Have a weekend off!

Today I'm going to take a whole day off. Although I'm a work-o-holic I sometimes feel I need to re-charge my batteries. So today I will take a few steps back in my progress towards more achievement and just kick back and relax. I urge you to do the same!

One idea I would like to share with you is to always bring some kind of notebook with you when you take some time off. It can simply be a piece of paper and a pen, or a small notebook. The reason for this is that although you don't seem to be focusing on your goals consciously, your brain is still doing its job and thinking about strategies to achieve your goals or reach your milestones. Small ideas will pop up in your head. If you don't jot these ideas down on a piece of paper you will almost certainly forget them, and that one small silly idea might be worth a million bucks. I hear lots of clients telling me this over and over again.

Personally, I have a drawer full of napkins with ideas - I tend to spend a lot of time at various coffee shops during my breaks... Many of these ideas have turned out to be money machines! :)

This is a sure way to reach Success!

  1. It's good to take a day off and 'relax'. In this high tech world we live in, the mind has no problems keeping up..usually...however, the body has different priorities and does not stay up as fast...in fact, it may take months for the body to catch up. Be Holistic in your approach to work and give your body a break at least once a week if not more. Have fun now.

  2. I completely understand what you mean. I hit a roadblock on the last paper I was writing (about how online collaboration has changed the way we compose music). I decided to go to sleep for a few hours. I couldn't go to sleep because each time I would lay down I thought of another topic to cover in the paper. Normally I would have just gone to sleep but I was so completely in need of ideas that I got up every time and jotted it down on a piece of paper.

When I woke up a few hours later I had an outline of nearly the entire paper. Hooray!

  3. I used to have napkins with ideas on them! Now I carry around a little notebook, and at present have a whole notebook of ideas. If I didn't do this, I would be thoroughly frustrated, bc I would have to remember too many things -- bc I would be walking around w a head full of ideas, trying to remember them all. I would be very disorganized and frustrated! I was doing this for awhile -- that's why I know! So great idea!
